Human Resources
Human Resources seeks to create a coherent framework for staff recruitment and development to support the University’s operational and strategic goals. We help to ensure the various aspects of people management work together to drive the behaviour and climate within the University to meet performance targets. We focus on longer-term people issues too, matching resources to needs, reviewing organisational structures, quality, culture, values, and commitment, and we respond to the evolving nature of work itself. We want to equip staff to deliver competitive advantage in terms of teaching, research and enterprise, knowledge exchange, and professional and commercial services so that all staff develop and thrive at the Royal Agricultural University.
Key roles of the Human Resources team include ensuring the University is able to recruit and retain a skilled and engaged workforce, providing learning and development opportunities, supporting performance management, employee relations, and staff wellbeing. Our aim is to provide a quality service through our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. HR also ensures legal compliance in employment and champions the University’s equality, diversity, and inclusion objectives through the collection and analysis of data, tackling potential bias, and the provision of training to create a working environment in which staff are inspired to give their best every day and are motivated to be part of the University’s success.
We are committed to reward staff in a fair, equitable and consistent manner and provide a comprehensive payroll service to employees and workers. We also promote the benefits of working at the Royal Agricultural University, which include 30 days holidays each year plus Bank Holidays and University closure days; a 35 hour working week and flexible and hybrid working options; free parking and electric car and cycle to work salary sacrifice schemes; an Employee Assistance Programme including counselling services and much more.
