Information for schools and colleges

This page provides information for students, parents, teachers and advisers about our work with schools and colleges and the various events we hold with them.

Resources for schools and colleges

We are very happy to deliver live sessions either in school or online. Visit our resource hub to see some of our pre-recorded presentations covering the topics we are asked about most regularly.

Contact us for access by emailing outreach@rau.ac.uk.

In school activities

RAU staff and student ambassadors regularly visit schools and colleges across the country to talk about higher education and opportunities open to students. This may take the form of:

  • Attendance at careers/HE fairs
  • University awareness and aspiration raising workshops
  • Subject-specific taster sessions
  • Presentations to students and/or parents about the RAU
  • Presentations and workshops to students and/or parents about higher education, with topics such as UCAS applications, personal statement writing, choosing a university/course, student finance and student life

If you would like us to visit your school or college please contact us by emailing outreach@rau.ac.uk or calling us on 01285 889878. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

On campus activities

Schools and colleges are welcome to visit our beautiful campus. On campus activities include:

  • Campus tours
  • Subject-specific taster sessions
  • University awareness and aspirations sessions
  • Joining us on an open day (find out more about open days here
  • Residential Summer Schools – see below
  • Teachers and Adviser Conference – see below

Summer Schools

In the summer we host two summer schools on our campus. Find out more about the Year 10 and Year 11 Summer School, or Discover RAU for year 12s.

Teachers and Advisers Conference

We host an annual Teacher and Adviser Conference every summer. This event brings together teachers and advisers from across the UK to raise awareness of the exciting variety of progression and career opportunities in the land-based sector, and what is currently available at the smaller, specialist institutions. Previous years’ topics have included: how best to support students to access, progress and succeed at further education and higher education, sessions on student finance, transition to university, student enterprise and land-based graduate careers.

Recruitment fairs

You can also often find us at UCAS, UK University Search or other HE recruitment fairs across the country.

GROWS network

We are a proud partner of the GROWS Network, a collaboration of universities, colleges and schools across Gloucestershire. GROWS works with young people in the region, raising their awareness of higher education and pathways towards it. Visit the GROWS website for further information.

Partner colleges

In addition to the foundation degrees and BSc (Hons) courses available to study here at the RAU, we also validate a number of courses at partner colleges. You can find out more about our partner colleges here

Contextual offer

Students may be eligible for a contextual offer if they're from one of our link colleges, have been in care, from a non-white ethnic background, or live in an area with low progression rates to university.
