Join us for a free Food, Farming and Water event at the Royal Agricultural University

11 June 2024

An evening discussion and debate, looking at how education can play a role in addressing the urgent global challenges that affect us all, is to take place next week at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU).

The free evening event, entitled Food, Farming and Water - How to support future leaders will bring together experts in the fields of food, farming, and water to discuss how we can nurture and develop the next generation of leaders in these crucial industries.

It will take place in the Emrys Jones Lecture Theatre at the University’s main Cirencester campus on Monday 17th June from 6pm to 7.30pm and is open to all.

Organiser Julia Jenkins, Head of Development at the RAU, said: “We hope that lots of people will join us for an invigorating discussion on how we can empower the next generation of leaders in food, farming, and water sustainability through education and skills.

“The event is free but we do ask that anyone who would like to come registers for a ticket here.

“As well as hearing from our panellists, we want to hear thoughts from the audience so please come ready with some questions!”

The panel includes RAU alumna and postgraduate student Kate Drury whose award winning innovation business, Sustainable Rope, is developing a natural fibre alternative to synthetic ropes to reduce microplastics polluting our waterways, and RAU Honorary Fellow Helen Browning who is a Wiltshire farmer and campaigner as well as being the Chief Executive of the Soil Association.

They will be joined by leading RAU academics Professor Dr Kiran Tota-Maharaj, who leads the University’s new MBA Water Management course and is actively involved in the innovation of water management, and Dr Jonathan Code, a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Land Management at the RAU.
