Professor Edmund Simons

Biography 

Associate Professor of Heritage Management.

A leading historic buildings specialist, archaeologist and heritage professional, with extensive management experience at the highest level. Edmund Simons has delivered multi, million-pound projects and advised governments and international bodies. He specialises in assessment and planning.

He is Associate Professor at the Cultural Heritage Institute (Royal Agricultural University) and is a former Reader in Heritage Management at the Centre for Remote Environments (University of Dundee).

He moved from a senior level in consultancy into academia, but has always kept a foot in the professional sector. He worked on the two largest planning applications in UK history, the largest public inquiry and is former Masterclass tutor for the RTPI.

Edmund Simons currently leads on the Rock-cut Buildings Project, the first project to examine the UK’s amazing carved structures.

He is also involved in research projects in the South Atlantic.
