Discover RAU Summer School
Discover what it is like to live and study at the RAU
This two day residential taster course for 14-17 year olds (i.e. years 10, 11, 12 or equivalent) is designed to give you the opportunity to explore our friendly campus and get a taste of what it is like to live and study with us.
You will stay in student accommodation, attend sample lectures, take part in fun practical activities and get lots of information and advice about coming to university.
The sessions will be tailored towards your main subject of interest, whether that’s agriculture and environment, real estate and land management, equine or business.
When is it?
Thursday 21 August - Friday 22 August 2025.
How much does it cost?
The summer school is completely free! This includes free accommodation, meals and activities.
Who can attend?
Students who live in the UK and are currently in years 10, 11, 12 or equivalent (i.e. 14-17 years old) can apply to Discover RAU.
Priority places will be offered to students who also meet one or more of the following additional criteria:
- Live in a UK postcode identified as having low progression to higher education (i.e. POLAR4 Q1 or Q2, to check eligibility please email outreach@rau.ac.uk)
- Currently attend a state school or college (i.e. not a grammar school or independent school)
- Currently/have been in local authority care or have caring responsibilities
- From an ethnic group under-represented at the RAU (i.e. Black, Asian and mixed backgrounds featuring one of these groups)
- Are the first in your family to attend university
- Have a parent/guardian currently serving in the UK Armed Forces.
Where is it held?
The Royal Agricultural University, Stroud Road, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 6JS.
How do I get to the RAU?
Arriving by car: Please use the Stroud Road entrance and follow signs to the car park. The barrier to the car park will open automatically as you approach.
Arriving by train: Our nearest station is Kemble. This is on the London Paddington to Cheltenham Spa line. We will be running a free pick-up and drop-off service to the train station for Discover RAU attendees.
Arriving by Coach: National Express coaches stop at Cirencester bus stop, and this may be a cheaper option than the train. We will be running a free pick-up and drop-off service to Cirencester bus stop for Discover RAU attendees.

Applications will close on Friday 18 July at 5pm. We will be shortlisting applications the week after the closing date and will be in touch shortly after with an update.
