In September 2024, Dr Andrew Hemmings, Associate Professor Equine Research Leadership, and Dr Simon Daniels, Associate Professor Equine Management and Science, both attended World Horse Welfare’s Glenda Spooner Farm in Somerset to film a session for World Horse Welfare’s “Horses Explained”, whereby experts are asked to film a Q&A session with a member of the World Horse Welfare groom team on a specific topic. Simon recorded a Q&A session on the horse’s digestive system, the gut microbiome, the gut brain axis and discussed how the way we manage our horses influences these systems. Andrew also recorded a session on the horse's senses and behaviour.

Both sessions were filmed for series two of “Horses Explained” which will be released to the public in summer 2025.
