RAU archive & historical collection

The mission of the University Archives is to serve as the official memory of the Royal Agricultural University. Its role is to collect, preserve and make accessible primary source material that forms a unique resource documenting the culture and history of the University.

It consists of a fascinating mix of images, correspondence, minutes, student lists, accounts, legal and financial documents, etc. that together document the history of the University since its foundation in 1845.

For any further information please email: archive@rau.ac.uk.

The Historical Collection

The University library is also custodian of a collection of historical books, some of which date back to the 16th century. The collection of over 1,000 volumes covers a wide range of subjects, but with the emphasis on all aspects of farming and rural life. Members of the public are welcome, by prior appointment, to view our Historical Collection of which we are justifiably proud.
