Timetable frequently asked questions
You can find help with the most frequently asked questions here:
My timetable is empty
Your timetable can take up to 24 hours to appear after you have been fully registered. Please check that you have fully completed all three stages of self-registration via the Student Portal (refer to your recent email about this). Your student portal will say ‘Registered’ once you are fully registered – if your timetable is still not appearing 24 hours after your status starts saying this, please contact Timetabling@rau.ac.uk.
If you have not completed registration before the start of the semester, you may miss your sessions.
If you are having this problem on a weekday during term time, please email Timetabling@rau.ac.uk to request a PDF of your timetable. This timetable will only be accurate at the time of printing, so please keep checking your timetable on Celcat and Outlook.
If your timetable is blank when you access it outside of term time, please check it again 24 hours later – if there are still no sessions, please email Timetabling@rau.ac.uk.
You may want to try opening the timetable in an incognito/private window or clearing your cache to see if that helps.
The timetable for the first semester is usually released in late summer. The second semester’s timetable is usually published in November. Your timetable may appear empty if you check it before all sessions have been scheduled.
My Celcat and Outlook calendars are different
It can take a while for the data on Celcat to make it to Outlook and on rare occasions, a change on Celcat may not be reflected on Outlook; please consider the Celcat timetable as the true version and continue to check both on a regular basis. If your Outlook calendar doesn’t update to show the right sessions after a day, please report this to Timetabling@rau.ac.uk with a screenshot.
If you have missed any classes due to this issue, please email your module leader to discuss your next steps.
My timetable has clashing sessions
This may be because you are trailing a module. If that’s the case, you are not obligated to attend the sessions again, you will just need to resit the assessments. Unfortunately it is not possible to move seminars or lectures. If you were hoping to attend the sessions to refresh your memory but can’t due to a timetable clash, please contact the module leader to discuss how you can catch up after each missed session.
If you are not retaking a module, please email Timetabling@rau.ac.uk and include a screenshot so that we can investigate.
My timetable is showing modules that I’m not studying
This could be because you recently made a change to your course or elective modules. If the issue does not resolve itself 24 hours after Registry has confirmed your request has been processed, or you have not requested any changes, please email the details of the modules to Registry@rau.ac.uk.
My timetable is showing sessions at strange times
Please check that the time zone on your device is set to GMT.
Which building is my class in?
The first letters of the room on your timetabled session will help you to find your class:
- EJ – Emrys Jones. Rooms 01, 03, 06, 12, 13 and 14 are on the ground floor. Rooms 07, 09 and 10 are upstairs – please take the stairs by EJ06, or the lift next to EJ02, to access them
- L – The labs (the entrance is opposite Porter's Lodge)
- TEAL – This is the room with the glass wall that’s attached to the café
- GW01 – George Wing 1 (this room is in the main building in the same corridor as the Finance Office)
- KRR – Kenneth Russell Room (this room is in the main building)
- PLT – Parkinson Lecture Theatre
- FG – Frank Garner lecture block
Please ask at the Student Hub helpdesk in Emrys Jones if you cannot find a room.
I’m the only one that turned up for a class
Please check your student inbox for updates from your module leader. You could also message a classmate, ask the Student Hub helpdesk about a room change, or email your module leader.
My password isn’t working
Your login details will be your student number and the password that you chose when you registered.
If you require a password reset, please contact IT service desk on 01285 889841 or visit them in the library with your student ID.
If you are receiving a different error message, please email a screenshot to IT.Service.Desk@rau.ac.uk.
I don’t recognise the module code on a session
Sometimes joint teaching sessions take place – as long as you can see one of your module codes listed, please attend.
Will my timetable change over the semester?
Occasionally, one-off changes are unavoidable; please check your Celcat timetable and student inbox regularly in case your module leader needs to move or reschedule your session.
When will the semester end?
Please check this page of the RAU website to find out the semester dates.
How can I change a module?
Module changes are generally only possible during the first week of a semester – please email your request to Registry@rau.ac.uk. Core modules cannot be changed at any point.
