What I want to do when I graduate
The Royal Agricultural University has given me so many new ideas and opportunities about my future career after I graduate.
By Jess Palmer, 1st Year, BSc (Hons) Agriculture
Before I came, I was so sure that I just wanted to go back and work on my family farm and farm pigs, however, the RAU has made me realise how much diversity there is within the agricultural sector and how much I am capable of. After I graduate, I want to work within consultancy, hopefully as a geneticist in livestock, however I am also interested in business and management consultancy. This is because I love the contact time working with people and understanding their unique problems and issues, and trying to be a friendly face if they're in need of help and advice.
Consultancy also gives me the flexible hours to carry on my farming career and my pig business, which means I can experience both my passions as a pig farmer and consultant.
I also want to get involved with the charity Farming Community Network, and volunteer with them and raise money for all the amazing work they do within the agricultural sector.
