My RAU experience
I chose to study at the RAU as I loved the small campus and class sizes, and how much individual support you get from your lecturers. I had a deep interest in both the equine and agricultural sides of my course, so really liked that there was a combination of both. It was also very beneficial having the business aspect in the degree, as it made it very transferrable.
The highlight I experienced on my course was our trip to Newmarket, as it made me realise how many different job opportunities there are within the equestrian industry; and made me realise I wanted to work in racing! I loved living in the Cotswolds for a few years whilst at the RAU, and made some amazing friends.
What I gained from the RAU
The course gave me a thorough understanding of both the equine industry, and the basic principles of business. Both the modules taught and the lecturers encouraged us to explore different areas of the equine industry, which led me to pursuing a career in racing.
I went to Bath Racecourse for my work placement, and they offered me part-time work during my final year. After I graduated I was offered a full-time position and am now a Business Co-ordinator at Bath Racecourse!
To any prospective student thinking about studying an equine degree at the RAU I would say - do it! I couldn’t recommend it more :)
