My RAU experience

I chose to study Bachelors in Agriculture with a professional placement year at the Royal Agricultural University because of its prestigious reputation and its comprehensive approach to agricultural education. The professional placement year was a key factor in my decision. The RAU has strong industry connections and partnerships with leading agricultural organizations, which means that the placement opportunities are not only abundant but also highly relevant to current industry needs.

One of the most memorable highlights of my course at RAU has been the field and industry visits. These trips truly differentiate the theoretical knowledge from practical knowledge. For example, during a field trip to a local farm we can see the firsthand the challenges and solutions in modern agricultural practices. This experience was not only enlightening but also directly applicable to the concepts we’d studied in class. It helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, showing how academic principles are utilized in real-world scenarios. Additionally, the support from the staff has been exceptional. They are incredibly helpful and always willing to provide guidance and additional resources.

What I gained from the RAU 

As an international student engaging with peers from different backgrounds and cultures has enriched my understanding of the world and challenged me to step out of my comfort zone. The friendships and connections I've made here are invaluable.

During my placement, I gained extensive knowledge and practical skills, particularly in the marketing and sales departments. I also developed a strong understanding of import and export processes, which are crucial for our business operations. In marketing and sales, I learned how to effectively arrange and manage international trade shows and events, including organizing stand setups and attending, and engaging with global audiences.  I have been offered further employment from the placement organisation as a Marketing and Sales Assistant.
