My RAU experience

I was looking for a course that would take me straight into being a rural surveyor; this meant that Rural Land Management at the RAU was a natural fit. I can honestly say that the highlight of my university was the Agricultural Law module that we did in final year. I enjoyed the community at the RAU and the small campus feel that means that you are known by name to the lecturers, not just a number.

The university careers team were super supportive in my second year when I was applying to placement schemes. I felt quite unsure about my CV and written applications, but the careers team were very supportive and met with me in person to go through any areas of my CV that needed improvement. I applied to five placement schemes and got through to interviews for all my applications. This resulted in me being able to chose which placement I thought would suit me best - an incredible position to be in!

What I gained from the RAU

I was focused on securing a graduate role on completion of my degree and the placement that I undertook in my second year at Fisher German LLP enabled this to happen. I was offered a role as an Assistant Surveyor for the duration of my final year of university and a graduate role on completion of my degree. I am now looking forward to taking the APC and becoming a Chartered Surveyor.
