My RAU experience
I chose the RAU because I wanted to further my education in the equine industry. The lecturers are well respected within the industry and have the relevant equine knowledge. The RAU has brilliant reputation, also you are surrounded by friendly, hardworking and like-minded students.
I like the small class sizes; the lecturers can really focus on you as an individual. The lecturers are very helpful which encourages me to strive for greatness. The modules that are a part of the course are very interesting and they cover a wide range of subjects. I have learning difficulties, but this hasn’t stopped me doing an equine degree. The RAU have helped me with academic support which has been very helpful. I attend academic support sessions with a member of staff each week which is beneficial.
What I gained from the RAU
A highlight for me was when a guest lecturer came in to discuss the concept of positive welfare - do horses have a life well lived? The session she led was very interactive and got us thinking about the welfare of horses in different disciplines. She was very enthusiastic which encouraged us to do our best. The modules are helping me to gain all the necessary industry information that I may need in my future career, as I would love to work in the equine welfare industry. All the lecturers are eager to help students with anything from coursework to job applications.
