Lizzie Boher
Why did you choose to study this course at the RAU?
I am from a polo background, and live just over an hour away from Cirencester. Studying here has allowed me to continue to follow my passion for producing polo ponies. Business was my favourite subject at school and I have always had a love for sales. In the future I will look to work abroad, this course will not only teach me the skills needed, but also help me achieve this through RAU’s large network of international contacts in a range of industries.
What is the best part about this course for you?
I love the practical elements of my course the most, especially the international trips. During first year we travelled to Berlin and learnt about a range of businesses including; Bikini Berlin - a concept shopping mall, Europe's largest urban aquaponic firm, and my favourite - ECF Farmsystems, an Agritech business who are in the process of creating an app that will shape the future of farming.
What are you enjoying the most about studying at the RAU?
I enjoy building friendships with likeminded people in an environment that encourages innovation. Our award-winning enterprise team are phenomenal and have helped me create my British country craft brand, BE COUNTRY. Through the enterprise program I have had the opportunity to exhibit at Badminton Horse Trials, have the support of a top PR mentor, enjoy weekly inspirational talks from Alumni, and access funding to grow my business. This year I am looking forward to entering the Grand Idea Competition to pitch my business idea to expert judges.
What would you say to a prospective student thinking about choosing your course at the RAU?
If like me, you don’t want to be swallowed up in a large institution and would much rather be a valued member of a countryside community where course sizes are small, the RAU is just right! International Business Management allows you to get hands on, work alongside RAU’s social enterprises, network with leading industry professionals, and have access to personal support from lecturers/tutors with strong international experience.
