I have always wanted to pursue my interests in the countryside and rural property, so the vocational degree courses on offer at the RAU really appealed to me. After visiting the RAU for an open day, it was clear that the BSc (Hons) Rural Land Management degree was the right course for me. It offered a wide variety of modules and excellent career prospects, due to the strong reputation of the RAU within the industry.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years in Cirencester, both academically and socially. Academically, the course was everything I expected it to be and the lecturers have been brilliant. Socially, the Student Union provide a variety of events throughout the year to ensure all students are having the best time!
I believe I have a strong basis of knowledge and confidence, which has developed through the excellent teaching at the RAU.
Upon leaving the RAU, I have been offered a graduate land agent position with Brown & Co based in their Grantham office. I am very much looking forward to starting this role and hope to pass the RICS APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) and also the CAAV (Central Association of Agricultural Valuers) exams in two years’ time.
The RAU has prepared me for my future career in various different ways. Firstly, the RAU provided guidance and support throughout the whole employment process, offering CV writing and interview advice, organising career fairs with a variety of employers, and also by inviting potential employers to meet students during the milk round process. Furthermore, I believe I have a strong basis of knowledge and confidence, which has developed through the excellent teaching at the RAU. This will support me throughout my day to day role as a land agent, and for future professional exams.
