My RAU experience
Having completed my Masters at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (School of Agricultural, Forest, and Food Sciences) in Switzerland, the Royal Agricultural University was recommended to me as the logical and natural next step. Some of the critical factors that led me to choose the RAU were the excellent teaching, and the overall focus on "caring for the fields and the beasts".
In addition to Eureka moments as a result of my independent research, the networking events were real highlights: e.g. presenting at the International Symposium on Cocoa Research in Montpellier, France, attending the World Cocoa Conference in Brussels, Belgium, and meeting fellow candidates during the Doctoral Festival hosted at the University of Winchester.
What I gained from the RAU
It brought me joy to see how well my research findings aligned with the RAU's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. I also enjoyed the intellectual challenge, the culture of continuous improvement, and the supportive learning environment at the RAU.
My course at the RAU has improved my level of critical thinking, academic rigour, and public speaking. I would support the view that PhD research trains you to break down complex problems into manageable parts. My current role is Chief Financial Officer at Health Diplomats, a specialised health, nutrition and wellness advisory group.
