The Royal Agriculture University (RAU), Cirencester, is a small specialist land-based Higher Education Institution (HEI). Our knowledge exchange strategy is central to our institutional mission to support the land-based sector, rural enterprises and agri-technology innovation. This strategy seeks to build a bridge between rural and urban areas through a dynamic integration of science, policy and practice.

Dr Karen Rial-Lovera

Biography 

Dr Karen Rial-Lovera is an Associate Professor in Agriculture and the Course Lead for the BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and the BSc(Hons) Agricultural Management (Top-Up). Karen graduated as Agricultural Engineer and holds an MSc in Agriculture and Forestry Research from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). Following this, Karen completed her PhD in Crop Systems in collaboration with the RAU and Coventry University, focusing on how soil cultivations, nutrient management and intercropping affected soil health and crop productivity.

Professor Nicola Cannon

Biography 

Professor in Agriculture.

Nicola Cannon is a dedicated educator and researcher.  As an agronomist she understands the challenges of arable cropping systems and the complex issues that impact on yield and quality of crops.  Nicola has a strong appreciation of the current research needs of the agricultural community and also the challenges of adoption by having a grounded agricultural background and professional understanding.

Dr Beverley Hill

Biography 

Associate Professor in Marketing.

I joined the Royal Agricultural University in September 2019 as Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Programme Director of MSc Business Management, having previously taught at Swansea University, University of the West of England, Winchester and Gloucestershire University.

Graham Pollard

Biography 

Graham joined the RAU from the University of Liverpool where he spent six years as Director of Operations for the university’s Faculty of Health & Life Sciences.

Professor Tom MacMillan

Biography 

Elizabeth Creak Chair in Rural Policy and Strategy.

Professor MacMillan's role focuses on enabling strategic approaches land, farming and food systems in policy and research. He is academic lead for the RAU’s Innovation Village project.

Dr Catherine MacKenzie

Biography 

Appointed as an Independent Governor in January 2020.
